Introducing a new style of creating expressive semi-abstract landscapes with alcohol ink. Emphasizing non-toxicity-no blowers, unduly high consumption of alcohol, or blending solution is used. We will demonstrate on a prepared board, using direct nozzle painting skills, layering and blending colors to form a dynamic sky with textured mountains, using very little brushwork.
First working on the sky, we mix colors skillfully using a straw to achieve a soft blend. Soft and subtly blended colors with a minimum use of alcohol will insinuate clouds and atmosphere. Now, for the mountains, she has mixed subtle shades of gold, blue, and purple, insinuating back peaks by strategic layering and little manipulation, allowing colors to flow and merge of their own accord.
As the landscape takes shape, we then add in richer colors and detailed touches toward the foreground for depth and interest with hints of greenery and gold. Again, she applies directly and guides tenderly, allowing inks to merge and make natural effects. She reminds us throughout the process that by letting the inks work for you, one gets a vibrant semi-abstract landscape that captures the real essence of the mountainous scene without overt details or toxicity.
